On Thursday 30 July 2026, Hubble is hosting Resilient Communities — Climate Action Starts at Home at Lot Fourteen for Adelaide Climate Action Week (ACAW) 2026. It's a question with no single answer, which is exactly the point. We've brought together three speakers who each answer it from a completely different direction — design and science, community and policy, and practical technology. Here's who you'll be hearing from.
Prof David Kroll — Adelaide University
David is an Associate Professor of Architecture at Adelaide University with more than 20 years of academic teaching experience across Australia and the UK. A qualified architect (UK) with a PhD from the University of London, his research sits at the intersection of sustainable design, housing, and architectural heritage.
At the panel, David will draw on his recently published book Good Houses: Environmental Design and Evaluation to explore how sustainability can be embedded into home design from the very first decisions — climate, site, orientation, and envelope — rather than bolted on as a technical afterthought. His talk asks what it really means to design a "good" house, not through prescription, but through process.
Beth Mitchell — Future Ready Schools
Beth is the Founder of Future Ready Schools, an emerging national initiative advancing climate-resilient, energy-smart public schools that strengthen education outcomes while building more resilient communities.
With over 20 years in climate policy, sustainability, and strategic leadership, Beth has held senior roles with the ACT Government — where she led infrastructure sustainability strategies across the public school portfolio — and with Beyond Zero Emissions, driving government engagement and policy advocacy to accelerate Australia's clean energy transition. She brings a rare ability to translate ambitious climate goals into practical, place-based solutions that deliver environmental, economic, and social benefits.
Jim Woolcock — Hubble Co-founder & Chief Strategy Officer
Jim is a co-founder of Hubble and its Chief Strategy Officer, and one of the most experienced building-science voices in the country. Over more than 20 years in the industry — eight as a commercial and industrial construction supervisor and two decades in building simulation — he has built deep expertise grounded in a Bachelor of Science in physics and mathematics from the University of Adelaide.
A NatHERS Accredited Assessor and Design Matters and AccuRate assessor, Jim heads a team of around 40 at Sustainability House, advising the building industry and government on energy efficiency, design, and materials. At the panel, he'll speak to Hubble's bigger mission: how technology and data can make sustainable living genuinely accessible for everyday Australians — with My Cool Home as the practical tool that puts that vision in people's hands.

Three perspectives, one shared belief: that climate action doesn't have to be overwhelming, and that it can start right where we live. The workshop runs from 3:00–5:00 PM and the panel and networking from 5:30–7:30 PM at Lot Fourteen on 30 July 2026.
